Contraindications of CNS Stimulants | Contraindicated in clients with a history of drug abuse, cardiovascular disorders, severe anxiety, and psychosis. |
Interactions with CNS Stimulants | MAOIs--can cause hypertensive crisis Caffeine- Phenytoin (Dilantin), warfarin (Coumadin), and phenobarbital-- leads to increased serum levels OTC cold and decongestant meds |
Nursing administration for CNS Stimulants | Place patch on one hip daily in the morning, and leave it in place no longer than 9 hours. These medications have a high potential for abuse. |
