Saved and Sanctified

Propitiation | To make favorable. Jesus Christ paid the price for our sin. He took away the wrath of God toward the sinner (me). |
Reconciliation | The result of expiation. Personal: The cancellation of the distance between God and man. Judicial: God has absorbed the moral deficit of man in His Son. |
Redemption | Cancels the debt of sin. Jesus paid our debt. |
Grace | The unmerited favor of God |
Repentance | A sincere and complete change of mind concerning sin; to turn from sin and toward God. |
Repentance includes: | Conviction of sin; true sorrow for sins committed; admission of guilt in confession to God; reformation of one's life |
Faith includes: | Personal trust in the Jesus Christ as Savior; mental assent to the Truth; consent to and acceptance of a moral obligation |
Justification | To be forgiven of our sins; to be declared innocent by the Divine Judge; To be accepted into the favor of God |
Regeneration | The implantation of spiritual life in man; Is instantaneous & complete; first step toward sanctification; The secret & inscrutable work of God, which man cannot directly perceive. As humans, we can only observe the effects of regeneration. |
Adoption | Reinstates us into God's family; God disciplines us, comforts us, provides an inheritance for us |
Justification is a change in relationships | therefore we are righteous |
Regeneration is a change in nature | therefore we are sons & daughters |
Sanctification is a change in lifestyles | therefore we are saints |
Sanctification is both | progressive and immediate |
