Words to help me on the STAAR

QuestionAnswer
What is sensory Language? When the author uses words and details that appeal to a reader's senses (sight, touch, taste, hearing, smell, emotion).
What is lyrical poetry? The genre of poetry that expresses personal and emotional feelings.
What is faulty reasoning? It gives some main ideas that don't support the conclusion.
What is a logical fallacy? A statement or an argument based on a false or invalid inference.
What is a claim? A statement of something as a fact; an assertion of truth.
What is the bandwagon appeal? Saying that you should do something because a bunch of other people are doing it and you will be "cool" or something.
What is a simile? Describing two different things using the words like or as.
What is personification? Giving an inanimate objects human qualities.
What is an alliteration? The repetition of the same sound.
What is the climax? The turning point in the story.
What is the protagonist? The main character/good guy.
What is the mood? The feeling created in the reader.
What is the tone? The writers attitude towards his or her attitude.
What is the setting? THe time and place where the story occurs.
What is the theme? The central message.
