How did Henry Clay, John C. Calhoun, and Daniel Webster lead this country. They all fought hard for their stance on slavery. They also were great representatives and were known for their rashness, compromises, and debates.
Provide examples of laws, compromises, and legislation that these men passed. Compromise of 1850, Fugitive Slave Act, American System, Kansas-Nebraska Act, etc.
How did Dred Scott v. Sanford affect life in the US? It showed how slaves would be treated in the court system. Also, the south took it as a victory.
Describe the conflicts of states rights and nullification and how it led to the civil war. The issue of the north passing laws with disregard to the south made the south retaliate with these procedures and eventually succession.
How did the US divide itself up along economic issues? The country was really split on agricultural, slave states and industrial, free states.
