3-Point Method   entering or exiting equipment with three points of contact at all times. Either 2 hands and one foot or 2 feet and one hand

Pinch Point   any point at which a pinch hazard could be present

Shoring   the process of bracing the walls of a trench to prevent collapse

Sloping   cutting the sides of the trench at an angle to prevent cave-in

Type A Soil   most stable soil type; maximum slope of 9 inches out for every 1 foot in depth
