Where does the word Psychology come from?   The word Psychology comes from the ancient Greek words psyche (soul, mind) and logia (study or account).

What are Psychology's roots?   In universities in the U.S. Psychology's roots were taught in Philosophy and in universities in Germany, Psychology's roots were taught in science faculties. (All sciences have evolved from philosophy, btw).

What is Psychology?   The science of mind and behavior.

When did Psychology officially become its own scientific discipline?   Psychology officially became its own scientific discipline in 1879, when the Psychologist Wilhelm Wundt opened up the first laboratory dedicated to Psychology.

What are the main branches of Psychology?   The main branches of Psychology are Cognitive Psychology, Behaviorism, Social Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis, Developmental Psychology, and the Psychology of Difference.
