| self-pollinating plant | a plant that has both male and female reproductive parts |
| true breeding | a plant or animal either two dominant or two recessive cells for a single trait |
| trait | distinguishing quality that can be passed from one generation to another |
| dominant trait | the trait observed when at least one dominant allele for a characteristic is inherited |
| recessive trait | a trait that is apparent only when two recessive alleles for that trait are injerited |
