| atria | the two upper chambers |
| ventricles | the two lower chambers |
| Right Atrium | the venae cavae are the two large veins that return blood to the heart, sends it to the right ventricle |
| Right Ventricle | receives blood from the superior chamber the right atrium, and contracts, sending it to the lungs via pulmonary arteries |
| aorta | the bodies largest artery, receives blood from a contracting left ventricle |
| myocardium | heart muscle |
| interventricular septum | inside ventricle |
| cardiac conduction system | made up of the specialized muscles cells that are responsible for automaticity |
| coronary arteries | branches off the aorta and supplies blood to the myocardium |
