trait a distinguishing characteristic or quality, especially of one's personal nature:
adaptation a form or structure modified to fit a changed environment.

nucleotide The basic building block of nucleic acids, such as DNA and RNA. It is an organic compound made up of nitrogenous base, a sugar, and a phosphate group.
meiosis process of cell division for sexual reproduction.
phenotype an organism's appearance or other detectable characteristic.
homologous chromosomes chromosomes that have the same gene sequence and structure.
genotype the entire genetic makeup of an organism also the combination of genes for a specific trait.
fossil the remains or trace of an organism that lived long ago.
Ribosome a cell organelle made of RNA and protein where proteins get synthesized in a cell .
generation time the period between the birth of one generation and the birth of the next generation.
