Mercury manned spacecraft: 1961-Alon Sherpard was the first American in space,his flight lasted 15 min. His spacecraft was named Freedom 7: 1962-John Glen first man to orbit the earth-his flight lasted 4 hrs. his spacecraft was named Friendship 7
Why did NASA name th 1st. project Mercury? Mercury was a Roman God Mercury was the "messenger" or "traverler"
Why were all of the Mercury spacecrafts #7 on April 9, 1959-the first 7 stronauts stood for the " Original Seven"
Gemini Project purposes: orbit,test equitment,test weightless,rendezvousing and dock with other vehicles :1965-1966 10 flights Gemini 3-pilot Gus Grissom-flight almost 5 hrs.
Gemini 8 pilot Neil Armstrong -almost killed on this flight-a ballpoint pen saved his life
Gemini 12 pilot "Buzz" Aldrin

Apollo desinged consisted of 3 parts CM-command module, SM-service module.LM- lunar module
lunar means moon
module means a unit (one) used for a specific purpose,usually connected to other units or modules;a detachable section with a special function
Apollo 7 was the first manned flight after the accident with apollo 1
Apollo 11,12,14,15,16,17 all landed on the moon
all manned Apollo flights had a crew of 3 men
