fertility rate the average number of children born to a woman who has completed her child bearing years
infant mortality rate the average number of deaths in a year per 1,000 live births
life expectancy a statistical projection of the length of an individual's life based on probabilities and assumptions of living conditions , medical care , natural disasters and other factors - or the average number of years a baby born today can expect to live
natural increase the extent to which total births exceed total deaths during a period of time
net migration the difference between outward migration(emigration) and inward migration (immigration) during a period of time (net migration =increase in population - natural increase)
optimum population a situation where a country has the best number of people , given its economic resources , where output per person is at a maximum.
overpopulation a situation where an increase in population would cause a fall in average income per person
under population a situation where an increase in population would cause an increase in average income per person
