Force Week 5
Term | Definition |
---|---|
inertia | An object’s resistance to a change in motion. |
graph | a graph or chart that used narrow columns of different height to show or compare numbers |
distance | the length of a line between two points |
time | on-going sequence of events taking place. |
axis | an imaginary line that an object spins or revolves around. |
momentum | property of a moving object that depends on the object’s mass and velocity |
Newton’s 1st Law | an object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. Often called the Law of Inertia. |
Newton’s 2nd Law | states that acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The great the mass the greater the amount of force needed. |
Newton’s 3rd Law | For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action. |
physics | branch of science dealing with matter and energy. Scientist who work in physics are called Physicists. They study things such as moving objects. |
