Term | Definition |

humanist perspective | stresses individual choice and free will; believes we choose most of our behaviors |
psychoanalytic perspective | belief that the unconscious mind controls most of our thoughts and actions |
biopsychology perspective | belief that biological processes and our nervous system is responsible for most of our thoughts and actions |
evolutionary perspective | examines human thoughts and actions in terms of natural selection |
behavioral perspective | explains human behavior in terms of conditioning/learning |
cognitive perspective | examines human though and behavior in terms of how we interpret, process, and remember environmental events |
social-cultural perspective | looks at influence of cultural and social factors on the way we think and act |
biopyschosocial perspective | combination of biological, psychological, and social factors |
ecletic | claims no one perspective has all of the answers, but a mix of them |
