Adaptation A characteristic a plant or animal has in order to help it survive in its environment
Life Cycle The stages of growth that a plant or animal goes through
Producer Organism that makes it own food
Consumer Organism that cannot make its own food. Gets its energy from other organisms
Vertebrates Animals that have a backbone
Invertebrates Animals without a backbone
Inherited behavior that an animal is born knowing how to do
Learned Behavior behavior that an animal has to be taught
Organisms Living things that carry out life functions on their own
Flowering Plants Plants that produce flowers and sometimes fruit. They grow their own seeds safely inside flowers
Non-Flowering Plant Their seeds are inside a cone or they reproduce using spores.
Sense Organ An organ that senses changes in an animal’s environment so it can adapt
Characteristic trait that helps identify an organism from other organisms
Germination to cause (a seed) to begin to grow
Pollination to give (a plant) pollen from another plant of the same kind so that seeds will be produced
