DDP Vocabulary Unit 4 - Introduction to Modelilng

TermDefinition
Automata A moving mechanical device that performs a repetitive function.
Model A visual, mathematical or 3D representation in detail of an object or design.
Physical model A physical representation of an object.
Function A relationship of one set (domain) to another set (range).
Computer-aided design or Computer-aided drafting (CAD) The use of a computer to assist in the process of design a part, circuit, building, etc.
Extrusion A modeling process that creates a three-dimensional form by a closed shape and a length.
Solid A three-dimensional body or geometric figure.
Distance A measure of how far an object has traveled from its starting point. Regardless of its starting or ending position.
Displacement the change in position of an object from its starting to its final position.
Velocity The rate with respect to time that an object changes position.
Extrusion A modeling process that creates a 3d form by defining a closed 2D shape and length
Solid A 3D body or geometric figure.
Distance A measure of how far an object has traveled from its starting point regardless of its starting or ending position. Distance is scalar.
Displacement The change in position of an object from its starting position to its final position. Displacement is described by a magnitude and direction. Displacement is a vector quantity.
Velocity The rate with respect time that an object changes position. A vector quantity.
