Electrical Circuits
Terms for electrical circuits
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Ohm's Law | I=V/R |
I | Current(Amperes)(Amps) |
V | Voltage(Volts) |
R | Resistance(ohms) |
Voltage | a force that pushes the current through the circuit |
Resistance | friction that impedes flow of the current through the circuit |
Current | The actual "substance" that is flowing through the wires of the circuit(electrons) |
Simple Circuits | Series Circuit and Parallel Circuit |
Series Circuits | a circuit with 1 path of electricity |
Parallel Circuits | a circuit with multiple paths of electricity |
Measuring Current | electric current is measured in Amps(A) using a ammeter connected in series to the circuit |
Measuring Voltage | measured in volts(V) using a voltmeter |
