custom manufacturing | type of manufacturing process that is used to produce a single product or a small number of products |
(ECM) | process concerned with the entire life of a product from the time the raw materials are gathered to the time the product's life is over |
fixture | type of tooling used to guide a work piece |
forming | mechanical process used to change the shape of materials through compression |
intermittent manufacturing | type of manufacturing process that produces smaller batches of the same part |
materials handling | movement of materials and products through a plant |
mining | the process or industry of obtaining coal or other minerals from a mine |
operations process chart | is a graphical and symbolic representation of the manufacturing operations used to produce a product |
plant layout | is the most effective physical arrangement, either existing or in plans of industrial facilities i.e. arrangement of machines |
primary processing | processing of raw materials into standard stock |
product layout | refers to a production system where the work stations and equipment are located along the line of production |
raw materials | the basic material from which a product is made |
