Term | Definition |

Battery | a container consisting of one or more cells, in which chemical energy is converted into electricity and used as a source of power. |
Circuit | a roughly circular line, route, or movement that starts and finishes at the same place. |
Open Circuit | an electrical circuit that is not complete. |
Closed Circuit | a complete electrical connection around which current flows or circulates. |
Conductor | an object or type of material that allows the flow of an electrical current in one or more directions. |
Transformer | a device that transfers an alternating current from one circuit to one or more other circuits, usually with an increase (step-up transformer) or decrease (step-down transformer) of voltage. |
Voltage | an electromotive force or potential difference expressed in volts. |
Kilowatt | a measure of 1,000 watts of electrical power. |
Static | Statics is the branch of mechanics that is concerned with the analysis of loads (force and torque, or "moment") acting on physical systems that do not experience an acceleration (a=0), but rather, are in static equilibrium with their environment. |
