EAP Information Providing Does the client need treatment? Did the client keep his/her appointment? Did the client accept treatment?
ACA Ethics states that counselors are prohibited from engaging in counseling relationships with friends or family members with whom they have an inability to remain objective.
Covert extinction With this technique, the client would imagine the negative behavior but without the anticipated positive feeling.
Transference analysis This is useful for longer term psychoanalysis.

ACA sexual ethics Therapists shall not engage in any form of sexual or romantic intimacy with clients or former clients for five years from the date of counseling service termination.

Amnesia A defense mechanism employing denial and/or repression to block the memory of a stressful or traumatic event.
Ataxia Impaired balance or coordination, can be due to damage to brain, nerves, or muscles.
Stages of Change precontemplation, contemplation, determination, action, maintenance, termination. Understanding your readiness to change by being familiar with the six-stage model of change can help you choose treatments that are right for you.
Alienism This is the study or treatment of mental diseases, especially in their relationship to legal problems.

Use assessment tools only written by counseling professionals Regardless of whoever created the assessment tool, it is most important that it has been proven valid and reliable within the counseling profession.
