Think Win-Win

QuestionAnswer
What does it mean if you're a doormat? People walk all over you, and you get no benefit.
Define a Win-Lose situation. When you're always trying to get ahead of other people. You can't win unless other people lose.
Define a Lose-Win situation. When you let other people take advantage of you. You're insecure, or not brave enough to stick up for yourself.
Define a Lose-Lose situation. If you can't win, nobody can. You envy and criticize others, and also yourself.
Define a Win-Win situation. A balance of courage and consideration. You don't let people walk all over you, but you're still very kind and considerate towards others. Both parties feel good.
What are the two principals of people who think Win-Win or No Deal? Courage and consideration.
What does it mean to make a deposit into someone's emotional bank account (EBA)? You "deposit" acts of kindness and helpfulness to another person that you're trying to form a relationship with.
What are some common examples of deposits into someone's EBA? Do small acts of kindness, keep promises, keep confidences (secrets), be loyal to the absent (no gossiping), set clear expectations, apologize, and forgive.
What's an example of a withdrawal from someone's EBA? Breaking a promise, gossiping, holding a grudge, telling someone's secrets, etc.
What are the 2 primary rules for making deposits into an EBA? 1. A deposit is only a deposit if the other person sees it as such. 2. It can take more than one deposit to make up for a withdrawal.
