How to we treat an airway obstruction? | – Suction blood, secretions, gastric contents – Turn patient into lateral position (if required) unless contraindicated. Manual airway techniques (head tilt, chin lift, jaw thrust) – Insertion of airway adjuncts if appropriate. Manitain SPO2 <94% in HP |
How do we recognise breathing problems? | – Complaining of shortness of breath (SOB) – Anxious/distressed – Irritability, confusion – Lethargy – Depressed conscious state – Cyanosis (late sign) – Increased respiratory rate (RR) – History and examination will point to cause |
What are the reversible effects of cardiac arrest? | 4 H and 4 T• Hypoxia • Hypovolaemia • Hyerkalaemia, hypokalaemia, hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia and other metabolic disorders • Hypothermia/Hyperthermia • Tension pneumothorax • Toxins • Tamponade (Cardiac) • Thrombosis |
