ecosystems | All living and nonliving things in an area |
Biotic Factors | Living Parts of an ecosystem. (Example): Fish in a Coral Reef |
Abiotic Factors | Nonliving things you find in an ecosystem. (Example): A rock creating shelter for a beetle. |
Organism | A single form of life ; the simplest form of organization in ecology. |
Population | All members of one kind of organism that live in a particular area. |
Communities | A group of different populations of organisms. |
Niche | The specific role an organism plays in the ecosystems. |
Food chain | The flow of energy from one organism to the next. |
Food Web | Show the interactions of many different food chains in a single ecosystem. |
Producer | An organism who can create its own food through the process of photosynthesis. |
Consumer | An organism that feeds on other organisms or organic matter because it can't make its own food. |
Decomposer | Organisms that break down dead plants and animals into nutrients for soil. |
Scavenger | An animal that feeds off of dead or decaying matter. |
