coronay bypass surgery | surgical procedure used to improve blood flow to the heart muscle when narrowing coronary arties reduce the blood flow |
depolarization | contraction of the heart |
diastole | relaxation phase of the heartbeat |
digitalis | drugs that increase the strength and regularity of the heartbeat |
echocardiography | pulses using ultrasound are sent into the chest and the returning echos are electronically plotted and recorded |
electrocardiography | the recording of electrical activity of the heart |
endarterectomy | surgical removal of the innermost lining of an artery |
