advocacy defending or supporting the rights or interests of another. In health care, specifically referring to those rights or interests of a patient or other vulnerable party.
analytical characterized by a method of analysis, a statement of point-by-point examination.
assertive confident, persistent manner of communicating one's thoughts and ideas, in a positive manner.
Confidential Communication Preference (CCP) form a form a patient signs that authorizes other individuals to receive information regarding the patient's care. individuals not listed will not be permitted to receive or ask for such information.
critical thinking using deductive reasoning to examine a problem or issue from a variety of different angles in order to arrive at the most appropriate conclusion and using that information in order to guide behaviors.
empathy sympathetically trying to identify one's feelings with those of another.
evaluation assessment; judgment concerning the worth, quality, significance, or value of a situation, person, or product.
job description a combination of skills and behaviors expected of an employee; effectively fulfill the responsibilities in a designated work position.
patient education information, instructions, and cautions provided to a patient intended to ensure and advance his or her safety, health, and/or recovery from injury or illness
reflective communication an interactive communication process in which the receiver uses verbal 'mirroring' to restate what the sender has said for optimal clarification by all parties
