PO Per os (by mouth)
NPO Nil per os ( nothing by mouth)
SC Subcutaneous (under the skin)
PR Per rectum (into the anal)
IM Intramuscular (into the muscle via the skin)
CVL Central venous line
IV Intravenous
PICC peripherally inserted central catheter
I/O intake/output: the amount of fluids a patient has taken in (by IV or mouth) and produced (usually just urine output)
BMI body mass index (measurement of body fat based on height and weight)
