Plants

flower makes the seeds; attracts birds and bees
stem provides support; allows for the movement of water and nutrients throught the plant.
leaves chlorophyll located here absorbs sunlight and makes food for the plant; Photosynthesis occurs here
roots anchors the plant to the ground and takes in water and nutrients from the soil
petal the colorful, scented part of the flower that attracts birds and bees so pollination can occur
sepal the small leaves that protect the developing flower
stamen the male part of the flower involved in reproduction
pollen the orange, yellow dusty substance produced by the stamen
seeds/ovule these form in the ovary after being fertilized by the pollen
pistil the female part of the flower involved in reproduction
stigma the sticky uppermost part of the pistil
carbon dioxide plants take this in during photosynthesis
oxygen plants release this after photosynthesis
pollination the transfer of pollen from the stamen to the stigma; reproductive process of flowering plants
dormancy the period of suspended life process in plants brought on by a change in the environment
chlorophyll the green pigment (color) in the plant; is used during photosynthesis to make food for the plant
