Study Guide for Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Win-Lose | Makes relationship a competition. Success must come at the expense of another's success. |
Win-Win or No Deal | Both sides reach a resolution together or understand that a deal cannot be met and keep themselves open for future collaboration. |
Lose-Lose | Willing to "lose" as long as the other member of the relationship also "loses". Caused by being focused on causing "opponent" to "lose" no matter the cost to self. |
Lose-Win | Path of least resistance and appeasement. Wish to gain acceptance and refrain from expressing own desires or strengths. |
Emotional Bank Account (EBA) | Amount of trust built within a relationship. |
EBA Deposit | Actions that build or maintain trust within a relationship such as acts of kindness, keeping promises, loyalty, and clear expectations. |
EBA Withdrawal | Actions that harm the trust within a relationship such as breaking promises, disloyalty, and unclear expectations. |
