President and Bureaucracy Terms 9 -18

QuestionAnswer
Ad hoc structure Several subordinates, cabinet officers and committees report directly to the president on different matters.
Cabinet Advisory council for the President, consisting of heads of departments, the Vice President, and others selected by the President.
Executive Office of the President The cluster of presidential agencies that help the President carry out his duties. Currently, this includes the OMB, CEA, and several other units.
Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Presidential staff agency that serves as a clearinghouse for budgetary requests and management improvements for governmental agencies.
National Security Council (NSC) A committee in the executive branch of government that advises the president on foreign and military and national security.
Council of Economic Advisors (CEA) An executive agency responsible for providing economic advice to the President.
Executive Agencies The Federal government agencies that are headed by presidential appointees.
Independent Agencies Government entity that that is independent of the legislative, judicial, or executive branch.
Acting Appointments A temporary appointment to a position to be decided on and approved later.
Presidential Honeymoon The short period after a President is inaugurated when the opposition party refrains from action.
