examples of psychodynamic approach | the unconscious brain: we aren't aware what is there and it contains negativity, we use defense mechanisms to keep things out of our conscious & repression: we push negativity down and it's not healthy |

examples of cognitive approach | the concepts of time, telling the truth and being accountable, social learning theory: observing and imitating behavior of others & all students aren't blank slates when they first start school |
