-algia | pain Ex: neuralgia = severe or stabbing pain related to a nerve |
-cele | swelling or hernia Ex: cystocele = hearnia of the bladder |
-duct | to lead to Ex: oviduct = leading to uterine tube |
-dyne -dynia | pain Ex: cardiodynia |
-emia | blood condition Ex: anemia = fewer than normal red blood cells |
-genic | causing or producing Ex: pathogenic = causing a disease or an abnormality |
-itis | inflammation Ex: endocarditis = inflammation of the endocardium |
-lepsy | seizure Ex: narcolepsy = sleep disorder in which person has disrupted nocturnal sleep |
-lysis | separation or destruction Ex: dialysis = method of artificial kidney function |
-malacia | softening Ex: osteomalacia = gradual softening of the bones |
-megaly | enlargement Ex: splenomegaly = enlargement of the spleen |
