Mass The amount of matter that makes up an object - how heavy an object is
Acceleration When an object changes its motion in a certain direction
Friction The force in the opposite direction of a moving object when two objects are in contact
Newtons First Law of Motion An object will not change its motion unless a force acts on it
Newtons Second Law of Motion An objects force can be calculated by multiplying its mass x acceleration. F = M x A.
Newtons Third Law of Motion If one object puts a force on another object, the second object exerts a force of equal strength in the opposite direction
PHEOC A template that we can use to do a scientific investigation
P - PHEOC Problem - what we need to solve or investigate in the lab
H - PHEOC Hypothesis - our educated guess to the answer or solution to the problem we are investigating. What we think the results are going to be
E/O - PHEOC Experiment/Observation - our tests that we run to solve the problem and the data that we collect
C - PHEOC Conclusion - The answer to the problem or the end result of the investigation
CER Claim - Evidence - Reasoning
C - CER Claim - the answer to the question
E - CER Evidence - the data that we use to support our claim
R - CER Reasoning - the "why" to our claim. The reason that our claim is correct
Kinetic Energy The type of energy that a moving object has
Kinetic Energy Equation KE = 0.5 x mass x velocity^2
