divergent boundary | A plate boundary where two plates move away from each other. |
fjord | A narrow inlet with steep sides formed by glaciers |
equinox | two times of the year with equal amounts of daylight and darkness (Spring and Autumn) |
Source of Water | Where a river begins |
Longitude | Distance east or west of the prime meridian, measured in degrees |
convergent boundary | A tectonic plate boundary where two plates collide, come together, or crash into each other. |
pangea | A supercontinent containing all of Earth's land that existed about 225 million years ago. |

Time Zones | 24 hour zones that 1,000 miles apart from the other, each one is an hour before or after the one next to it, helps to differentiate between the different times from one point on the Earth to another point. |

solstice | Two times of the year when the each hemisphere either receives the longest or shortest amount of sunlight |
island | a piece of land surrounded by water |

Plate Tectonics | The earth is made up a series of plates that are constantly moving |
Isthmus | A narrow strip of land connecting two larger land areas |
Canal | an narrow body of water; often used for transportation or drainage |
Glacier | A river of moving ice that carves rock |
erosion | The warring down of the earth's surface narrowing down by wind, water, or ice. |
plateu | a raised, steep area of land with a flat top; formed by wind erosion |
cape | point of land that sticks out into the water |
hemisphere | The Earth is divided into four hemispheres by the Equator and Prime Meridian. |
