Fertilization a sperm cell and an egg cell join together in this process
Heredity the passing of genetic material from parents to offspring.
Gene segments of DNA found in chromosomes that give instructions for producing a certain characteristic such as eye color.
Alleles different versions of a gene such as blue eyes and brown eyes.
Geneotype the combination of alleles that you inherit from your parents such as Bb.
Phenotype your observable traits such as blue eyes.
Dominant the allele that contributes to the phenotype if one or two copies are present in the genotype. Represented with a capital letter. BB or Bb.
Recessive the allele that contributes to the phenotype only when two copies of it are present. bb
Incomplete Dominance each allele in a heterozygous individual influences the phenotype. Results in a blend of the phenotypes of the parents such as red and white make pink.
Codominance both of the alleles in a heterozygous individual contribute to the phenotype. Both traits will show up such as Aa Blood and Bb blood makes AB blood.
