Human - Environmental Interaction The connection and exchange between humans and the natural world/environment
Natural Resource Items that occur in the natural environemtn that people can use
Renewable natural resources unlimited resources that will not be depleted by human use
Non-renewable resources limited resources that can be exhausted by human use
Sustainability trying to use resources in ways that will allow their use in the future while minimizing impacts on the environment
Land The study of how land is utilized, modified and organized by people.
Built Environment The physical artifacts that humans have created and the form part of the landscape.
Cultural Ecology the study of how humans adapt to the environment
Environmental Determinism The belief that landforms and climate are the most powerful forces shaping human behavior and societal development while ignoring the influence of culture.
Possibilism A view that acknowledges limits on the affects of the natural environment and focuses more on the role human culture plays.
