What role does the amygdala play in memory? | Emotional events involve the amygdala. Emotions trigger the release of stress hormones which in turn activate the amygdala which enhances memory forming activity. This results in highly detailed memories with more sensory details. |
Why do we forget things? | Ineffective encoding, the decay theory, and retrieval failure. |
Is eyewitness testimony reliable? | Not always. People don't encode all aspects of an event and encoded information can be altered by biases, expectation, and reports from others. |
