4.5 Solar System

TermDefinition
astronomer is a scientist that studies celestial observations.
atmosphere is the surrounding mixture of gases that surround a planet.
gas planet is a planet with an atmosphere composed of hydrogen and helium. All these planets exist beyond the asteroid belt and have a ring system. Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus are examples. These planets have many moons revolving around them.
orbit A path described by one body in its revolution about another
revolution is the movement of an orbiting body completely around another object, such as a star or a planet. The Earth circles around the sun in 365.25 days.
rotation is the time it takes for Earth to rotate completely around once on its axis completing a full day (24 hours). It causes day and night to occur.
Solar system is the Sun and all the objects that orbit around it.
Terrestrial planets are planets having a rocky solid composition. These planets have few moons, closer to the sun than gaseous planets, and no ring systems. Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars are examples.
