Body Cavities

TermDefinition
a long, continuous cavity on the back of the body. Its divided into two sections, the cranial cavity and the spinal cavity dorsal cavity
larger than dorsal cavities, it is separated into two cavities by the diaphragm which is important for respiration ventral cavity
located in the chest, it contains the esophagus, trachea, bronchi, lungs, heart, and large blood vessels thoracic cavity
divided in the stomach, small intestine, most of the large intestine, appendix, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and spleen abdominal cavity
lower abdominal cavity, contains the urinary bladder, reproductive organs, last part of the large intestine pelvic cavity
for the eyes orbital cavity
for the nose structures nasal cavity
for the mouth, teeth, and tongue buccal cavity
contains the heart pericardial cavity
