Term | Definition |

Competition | The struggle between organisms to survive in a habitat with limited resources |
Symbiosis | A close relationship between two species in which at least one benefits |
Mutualism | A symbiotic relationship in which both organisms benefit |
Parasitism | A symbiotic relationship in which one organism benefits and the other is harmed |
Commensalism | A symbiotic relationship in which one organism benefits and the other is unaffected |
Predation | An interaction in which one organism kills and eats another |
Predator | The organism that does the killing |
Adaptation | A characteristic that allows an organism to survive in its environment, such as camouflage, sharp teeth, or running fast |
Niche | Way in which an organism lives and uses the conditions it lives in |
Overpopulation | Condition that occurs when a population becomes so large that it causes damage to the environment |
Prey | The organism that is killed |
