classical conditioning | learning in wich an organism comes to associate stimuli |
neutral stimuli | stimuli that does not trigger a response |
unconditioned stimuli | stimuli that automatically triggers a response |
unconditioned response | an unlearned, natural response tot he unconditioned stimuli |
conditioned stimuli | after association with the unconditioned stimuli, elicits a certain response |
conditioned response | the learned response to previously neutral response |
acquisition | initial stage of classical conditioning in which the association between the neutral stimuli and unconditioned stimuli takes place |
generalization | tendency to respond to similar stimuli in the same way |
discimination | the learned ability to distinguish between the controled stimulus and other stimuli |
spontaneous recovery | the reappearing of the controlled response to the controlled stimulus |
extinction | the fading of the controlled response to the controlled stimulus |
John Garcia | found the effects of radiation on rats |
operant conditioning | consequences that follow a behavior will increase/decrease likelihood of them happening again |
Skinner | founder of operant conditioning and skinner box |
shaping | procedure in which reinforces guide behavior through successful approximations |
postive reinforcement | reinforcing behavior by rewarding |
negative reinforcement | reinforcing behavior by eliminating |
postive punishment | reinforcing behavior by adding pain/penalty |
negative punishment | reinforcing behavior by taking away phone/keys/etc |
primary reinforces | stimuli that is satisfying and requires no learning |
secondary reinforces | stimuli that has acquired its reinforcing power thru experiences |
continuous | reinforce behavior every time it happens |
variable ratio | random number of responses |
fixed ratio | after a set number of responses |
variable interval | after a random amount of time |
fixed interval | after a set rate of time |
bandura | learn through watching |
bobo dolls | after seeing a parent aggressive, child is more likely to be aggressive |
