soocial infliuencs An individual's attitudes beliefs and subsequent actions or behaviours are influenced by others through three processs
three processes compliance identification internalisation
social influence brings about change in attitude and actions and that change may occur at different levels. This difference in the level of changes can be attributed by the difference in the processes through which individuals accept influence.
Compliance Compliance is assumed to occur when individuals accpet influence and adopt the behaviour to gain rewards or approval and avoid punishments or disapproval Laugh at a joke you dont find funny
Identification Idenitfication occurs when someone conforms to the demands of a given social role in society. This type of confirmity extends over several aspects of externmal behaviour. However three still be no change to internal personal opinion
Internalization Publicly changing behaviour to fit in with the group while also agreeing privately. An internal & external change of behaviour. This is the deepest level of conformity where the beliefs of the group become part of the individuals own belief system
Obedience Obedience is a form of social influence where an individual acts in response to a direct order from another individual who is usually and authority figure. It is assumed hat without such an order the person would no have acted this way
Conformity is a type of social influence involving a change in belief or behaviour in order to fit in with a group This change is in response to real (physical presence) or imagined (pressure of social norms/ expectations) group pressure
