QuestionAnswer
Sketch a magnetic field for a bar magents. What is a magnetic field See diagram in folder, area around a magnet that attracts magnetic materials
What is a gravitation field? In which direction does a gravitiational field pull objects towards on earth The area around an object where mass experiences a force, All objects are pulled towards the centre of the earth
how does a plastic rod become charged? Explain using the words friction, electrons and nucleus A rod becomes charged when the friction of a cloth rubbing rubs off the electrons from the atoms leaving behind the positve nucleus of the atoms
If a rod becomes positively chagrds after rubbing with a cloth, what charge will the cloth have? Compare the amount of charge on each The cloth will become negatively charged. The cloth will have the same amount of charge as the rod (just oppositely charged)
How do you measure the current and voltage of a bulb in a series circuit to measure the current use an ammeter in series with with the bulb. To measure the voltage use a voltmeter in parallel to the bulb
Why does a thinner wire have a higher resistance than a thick wire? Would the current be higher or lower in a thin wire compared to a thick wire A thin wire has less room for the electrons to flow so its harder for them to flow. A thin wire will have a low current compared to a thick wire
Describe the difference in resisitance in two thin wires, on that is 5cm long and the other that us 20cm long the 20cm wire will have a higher resistance as it is longer
Draw a labelled diagram of an electromagnet See diagram in folder
Give 3 factors that affect the magnetism of an electromagnet number of coils, amount of current flowing through it, the material of core

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
