Matter

TermDefinition
Physical Change Change in the state of matter in which material and has the same properties at the new material
Transpiration The loss of water through plants and leaves
Qualitative Non numerical data that is observed and subjective
Quantitative Data expressing a certain quantity, amount or range
Chemical change Any change that causes a new substance to be formed
Matter Anything made of atoms and molecules. Matter is anything that has a mass.
Contract to make something smaller or shrink
Expand To make something larger or to grow
Condensation The process of changing a gas to a liquid due to cooling
The water cycle The recycling of water between the earth and atmosphere
Precipitation The form of water that falls from a cloud due to the earth: Rain, Sleet, snow Hail
Runoff Precipitation that flows across the lands surface or flows into rivers, storms or collection areas.
Solid Has its own shape and there is no space between molecules
Water Vapor Water in a gas form
Colllection The area where precipitation and water collects
Liquid Can take the shape of a container, is visible and there is space between the molecules
Mixture A mix of two or more substances
Evaporation The process of changing a liquid into a gas due to heating.
Condensation The process of changing a gas into a liquid due to cooling.
