Anagonist The term used to describe the muscle that causes a body part's primary movement
plantar flexion pointing the toes in a straight line away from the body, as when a ballerina stands on the tips of her toes
abduction moving one leg away from the other leg, as in getting up on a horse
lateral rotation the rotational movement of the leg when the body is standing erect, the heels of the feet are as close together as possible, and the toes are pointing away from the midline of the body.
pronation movement of the wrist when reaching over to pick up a pen from a desk
triceps brachii extends the forearm
rectus femoris flexes the thigh, extends the leg
biceps brachii flexes the arm and forearm, supinates the hand

latissimus dorsi Extends, adducts, and rotates the arm

Hemiplegia Total paralysis on one side of the body
Myocele Protrusion of a muscle through a tear
sarcopenia Loss of muscle mass due to aging
myositis Inflammation of a muscle
Goniometry Measurement of the degree of motion of a joint in a variety of directions
