Eye diagram

TermDefinition
Pupil Adjustable opening in the center of the eye through which light passes
Cornea The eyes clear, protective layer, covering the pupil and iris
Iris A ring of muscle tissue that forms the colored portion of the eye. Controls the size of the pupil opening
Lens Transparent structure behind the pupil that changes shape to help focus images on the retina
Retina Light sensitive inner surface of the eye containing rods & cones (and neurons); begins processing visual information
Fovea Central focal point in the retina, around which the eye's cones cluster
Optic Nerve Nerve that carries neura; impulses from the eye to the brain
Path of light (first) Cornea
Path of light (second) Pupil
Path of light (third) Lens
Path of light (fourth) Retina
Path of light (fith) Optic Nerve
