The lymphatic system

appendix | a small mass of lymphoid tissue attached to the large intestine that may aid in immunity |
lymph | a thin fluid that drains from tissues and is transported through lymphatic vessels |
lymph node | a small mass of lymphoid tissue along the path of lymphatic vessels that filters lymph |
lymphatic system | the system that drains fluid and proteins from tissues and returns them to the bloodstream also plays a role in immunity and fat absorption |
Peyer patches | lymphoid tissue in the lining of the intestine that provides protection from microorganisms |
R lymphatic duct | the duct that drains fluid from the upper right side of the body |
spleen | an organ in the upper L abdominal region that filters blood and destroys old red blood cells |
thoracic duct | the duct that drains fluid from the upper L and all lower parts of the body aka L lymphatic duct |
thymus | an organ in the upper chest that is involved in immunity |
tonsil | a mass of lymphoid tissue in the throat that filters inhaled materials |
