States of Matter the physical forms of matter, which include solid, liquid, and gas
solid a state of matter that has a definite shape and a definite volume; when water is in this state, it is because its temperature is below the freezing point and the water molecules are close together
liquid a state of matter that has a definite volume but no definite shape; when water is in this state, is above the freezing point and the water molecules are not quite as close together
gas a state of matter with no definite shape or volume; when water is in this state, it is called "water vapor," and you cannot see it; the temperatures are warm; water molecules are farther apart
weather The daily conditions of the atmosphere in terms of temperature, atmospheric pressure, cloud cover, wind, and moisture.
