weather

TermDefinition
clouds a collection of millions of water droplets.
hydrometer a tool used to measure the amount of water vapor in the air.
cirrus clouds they are white and wispy with feathery edges. they indicate a sunny day, but sometimes they can be a sign of weather changing.
condensation Water vapor cools down and condenses into water droplets.
rain frozen precipitation falls down as rain.
freezing rain frozen precipitation melts in warm air. rain falls and freezes on cold surfaces.
sleet frozen precipitation melts in shallow warm air. then refreezes into sleet before reaching the surface.
snow snow falls through cold air and reaches the surface.
rain gauge a tool used to measure precipitation.
hail rain droplets in clouds go up and down and when they go up and down they freeze and melt and when they get heavy enough, they fall down.
sea breeze a local wind that blows from the sea to the land
land breeze a local wind that glows on the land to the sea
anemometer a tool used to measure wind speed
wind vane a tool used to measure wind direction
global winds wind that is high up in the sky
jet stream a river of air high in the atmosphere
warm front a front that produces, light, long lasting precipitation. Only produces rain or snow.
cold front a front that brings thunderstorms. They bring short lasting, heavy precipitation.
