Light and the Eye

QuestionAnswer
Why do some people have blurry vision? Eyeballs are not perfectly round or the cornea is not smooth.
What part of the eye is colored? iris
What part of the eye is the black hole? pupil
Where is the retina located? the back eye wall
Where does light enter the eye? pupil
What is the clear lens over the pupil called? cornea
What would happen if your cornea was cloudy? Your vision would be blurry.
How does light travel? in waves
Why does a straight object appear bent or broken in the water? Light waves travel through air and water differently. Refraction is the bending of light.
What is transparent? A material that lets light pass through it.
What is translucent? A material that allows SOME light to pass through it.
What is opaque? A material that lets NO light pass through it.
What is a prism? A clear object that bends light and reveals all colors of the spectrum.
What is reflection? The bouncing off of light from an object.
What is refraction? The bending of light when it moves through an object.
What is bio luminescence? When an animal glows! The result of a chemical reaction inside an animal's body.
Can we see all light? No, we can only see the visible light spectrum.
What is light? A type of energy that makes vision possible.
What are rods and cones? Receptors in our eyes that allow us to see in black, white and color!
