density | the measurement of how tightly a material is packed together |
earth systems | the four main physical systems of the earth-hydrosphere, lithosphere, atmosphere, biosphere |
fog | a cloud at ground level |
geosphere | all the rock at and below earth's surface (crust, mantle, and core) |
glacier | any large mass of ice that moves slowly over land |
groundwater | water that fills the cracks and space in underground soil and and rock layer |
hydrosphere | all the water at and near the surface of the earth,97%of which is in ocean |
landform | a naturally-formed feature on the surface of the earth such as coastline, dune, or mountain |
pathway | how water moves on land due to gravity |
precipitation | any form of water that falls from clouds and reaches Earths surface as rain, snow, sleet, or hale |
runoff | water that flows over the ground surface rather than soaking into the ground |
transpiration | evaporation of water from the leaves of a plant |
water cycle | the continual movement of water among earth's atmosphere, oceans,and land surface through evaporation condensation and precipitation |
