Term | Definition |

humidity | the amount of water vapor in the air |
temperature | how warm or cool something is |
water vapor | water in the air that you cannot see |
weather | what the atmosphere is like at a certain time and place |
thermometer | a tool that measures the temperature |
weather station | a set of equipment that measures temperature and other weather information. They normally take these measurements automatically several times a day. |
atmosphere | the blanket of air that surrounds Earth |
air mass | a large body of air in the atmosphere of the same temperature and humidity |
data | pieces of information about something, such as facts or measurements. ex: if you write down your daytime temperature for a week, you are recording data |
front | where one air mass meets another air mass. Storms and clouds often form at fronts |
meteorologist | a scientist who studies the weather |
climate | an area's typical weather over a long period of time |
desert | an area with a dry climate |
equator | an imaginary line around Earth, midway between the North and South poles |
